Very aggressive clownfish

twist of lime

I have a very aggressive 3" female darwins clown that I think is responsible for bulling my 3 1/2- 4" cherub angel to death . She is sortof paired with a small male clown but is bullieng him to and he has an infection . She bullies all the fish in my large 420g system so It will be very hard to catch her. I can't add any new "docile" fish for I think she will probobly kill them. Here is my plan-
Step 1- Put a bta in there for her to host. This will probobly make her only aggressive in one area. Although she (after she gets used to the anemone) will probobly start roaming around the tank and bullieng every one agian even if they don't go near the anemone, which is what leads me to step 2

step 2- Get 1 3-4" atlantic blue tang. These tangs are passive but will not put up with being bullied so they should work. Plus they are hardy. or get 3 (atlantic blue tangs like to be in schools) 2" atlantic blue tangs that are still in the yellow phase. This way they have eachother for protection.

LAST resort- put a fish trap in and hope to catch her.

Please give me your experiences. Please I am not looking for opinions at this point just personal experianses.

Thanks, Diane

I have a female cinnamon clown that is very aggressive. I also have an atlantic pygmy angel in my 50g breeder, the clown chases it around constantly, but the angel seems to out smart the clown and the clown loses the angel through the rocks.

I recently added a BTA for her to call home, she took to it right away and is now even MORE aggressive. If I put my hand anywhere in the tank, she will bite me...

I had a big 6'' yellow tang in my old 75g tank that the clown would bully to a point. Until the tang got sick of it and retalliated. The clown then would take out her aggression on the angel anyways.... ugh

fish trap it is! :)

Throw a couple damsil fish in there. your clown will spend all day chasing them, which she will never catch.

I had a pair of very very aggressive tomato clowns that bullied 4 chromis's to death along with torturing everything else. I tried every method in the book to catch them and nothing worked, they would just rush into the anemone and there was no way to scoop them up.

So as a last ditch effort I bought some super small hooks from a fly fishing shop (size 18 I think) along with some 2 lb line. I shaved off the barb, got a stick, and went fishing. I tried baiting it with small chunks of krill but they would just pick it off. I tried the bare hook and caught them in a few minutes and it was into the sump with them. If you do this keep a pair of tweezers handy as you may need it to help get the hook out. You'll need some fast reflexed to avoid the other fish trying to get the hook as well.

I'm not saying this is a tried and true way, it just worked for me. Good luck
