very high ph

the ph in my new tank is at 8.4 right now, using a proble, i also checked with a test kit and its right,
what would cauz this and what do i do to get it down?
my skimmer intake is outside sucking in fresh air, could this do it?

live rock and sand are natural buffers. If you are dosing Kalk that can give you high ph.

only thing i dose is calcium alkalinity and mag, from bulk reef supply

My PH hovers around 8.4. Most important is to check your Alk. If your Alk is stable then you should be find.

Check your Alk as Bolo suggested. It could be the cause of your high PH.

yeah you are right, dont know what i was thinking, must have been thinking of my old freshwater tank at 7.2ph..

No worries. Always be safe then sorry. We all know how quickly our tanks can go south if something is way off.

i run @ 8.3 so i dont think its high at all
