Very nice acro pics

That is not a bad shot at all. I like how your tank is long enough that it seems to keep going in the pic.

I hate your tank.. not because it's a bad looking tank (it's really quite stunning), but because it makes me think.. hey if this guy can grow Xenia in his SPS tank.. maybe I can to! >_< dammit.

Ha!

My kids love the stuff, they call it the bye bye plant. I like it because it's easy to peel off the LR and hand out whenever it gets a bit out of control.

Going through those pics tonight I noticed I left one out. My rainbow monti.

Wow. Amazing photos of an amazing tank. Just when i thought my tank was starting to look good, I see your post and I have to admit I still have a long way to go...

Beautiful tank. Very nice colours too. How long has this tank been running?

That's kind of a loaded and embarrassing question. I've had the tank up for 3 years now, lost everything when I upgraded to the 180 from my 75, everything. Began new with 400W MH and built it up again. Because of this and that I started losing interest and started to get lazy. Laziness turned into more laziness, and then down right apathy. I finally just stopped cleaning the glass and things just got horrible. It was a disaster.
The tank is in our room and my wife finally said, either make it nice or get rid of it. That was last January. I decided to go back to T5's because of heat issues and that kind of sparked my interest again.

Here is the tank Feb 27, 2010. First shots of the T5 lights and after cleaning and getting rid of coral skeletons.

March 6, 2010: Frag pack from shadowramy, ordered it from the corals for sale forum and acans from cherry corals. I'd never kept acans so I thought I'd give it a try:

March 13, 2010: Look what I did to my beautiful sebae anemone, shameful. You can go back a page and see what she looks like now, it's embarrassing what I did.

March 16, 2010: I ordered 4 aquacultured mini colonies from DFS and my buddy, ataylo13 who took all the nice pictures, gave me back my red ink table which outgrew his tank. That coral is unstoppable.

April 14, 2010: Things are settling in, bought some local frags at a swap and tank is doing well. Look at the pink bubble tip anemones on the left of the picture. They are making a come back but still very pale.

June 12 2010: I bought a huge green slimer from a guy, it was yellow when I got it but green now. The frags and corals are starting to take off, the anemones doing much better.

I love the photo journal. It shows how far the thank has come in such a short amount of time.

July 18, 2010: The maricultured mini colonies are starting to really color up and grow all the frags are getting bigger.

I didn't take many pictures during the summer or fall, just let the tank grow. I actually didn't to much of anything with the tank. I went through a mini "I'm not really into this, should I just shut it down" phase.

Oct 10, 2010: I took this picture with my cell of a bristle worm, you can see the condition of the glass. Not my proudest moment.

Dec 22, 2010: It's Christmas time and the wife finally puts her foot down. Clean the tank or it's gone, no discussion just an order. I cleaned it and was surprised to see everything thriving. No water change for probably 4 or 5 months. I promise to myself that I won't let it go again, it's either 100% or nothing.

Jan 11, 2010: Two water changes later, glass being cleaned regularly and the wife is happy.

And the pictures in the beginning of the thread are from this February.

My husbandry of the tank is suspect and at some or most times embarrassing. I think I have everything in check now and I'm back in it. Having been in the hobby for awhile I think everyone goes through the "Is this worth it" phases. I just happen to take that to the extremes. I call it throwing hand grenades. If I'm not throwing a hand grenade into the tank, making things difficult for myself, then I lose interest.

WOW! Super nice tank! I love the colors of your sps. Are you doing and bacteria or carbon dosing?

No, I try to keep things as simple as possible. I drip kalk for top off, that's it. I have a GEO calcium reactor sitting under my tank collecting dust for 10 months. I started it up, it was confusing and I had to test all the time because I wasn't sure what I was doing. I got frustrated with the whole thing and unplugged it.
