Very small RBTA....is it bleached?

Hey guys. I have aquired a small RBTA on a piece of liverock. I have never bought an anemone this small before and I was wondering if baby RBTAs naturally look like this when they are of this size? It kind of looks bleached to me but I thought since it was a baby, this could be their natural color. Other than that, its eating very well, its sticky, it has great reaction to food and looks plump. I will get some pics in a few.

Here are some pictures. I couldn't really get much of a better angle of it than these pictures.

Very nice pink tips, does not look like it is bleached at all.

Thats because I bought it off you and of course you will not admit to saying its bleached if it really was. That would make you look bad.

So does anyone know if this is bleached? Thanks.

IMO, anemones with a dark base are healthier than those with white/clear bases. Yours is a little bit light. I've had a few clones that looked like that. They were more delicate than the ones than the big ones that split right down the middle. It should be fine with proper lighting and food. They do look pretty when they are pink though.

Well he is actually darker than in the piture bc the camera is ot bringing out its true color. However, I still think its a little bit light. I have Tek T5 lighting btw.

Anemones "bleach" for different unknown reasons. I have some very light ones right under 400 watt bulbs. It could be because I didn't target feed for many months. They do seem to gradually darken when I feed regularly. I've had some that were pink for over a year. No harm and they look great. They just look darker and grow bigger if I feed regularly.

of course i am going to tell you its not bleached, b/c it is not. It is a clone and the majority of clones are lighter like mobert has stated.

I'm not sure if its a little light or not based on the picture, but its definitely not "bleached". Bleached is just plain white. Also, if you've got a clone they usually still have some developing to do. If it was under weaker light before you got it, it could have been perfectly healthy but then will develop darker color under stronger lights.

If it starts to get lighter than it is now after being in your system than I would be worried.

As far as a the quality of the BTA that was sold to you, I'd say that is MUCH better than you could hope to get at a LFS and as well as you could hope to get ordering online. So its a good fine. I think you should see some improvement over time.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

I am feeding it everyday small portions to help it accumulate more energy and growth. Small anemones are very vulnerable so I have to be careful. It is also looking bigger than in its last tank. Thats because I have T5s and the last tank had PCs. Makes a difference. So far the color hasn't changed yet. I was just referring to the picture about it being lighter than in actuality.

i would feed it a bt less pehaps every 3rd day. Overfeeding it does not allow it to digest. just feed it a meaty food like a peice of krill or silverside.

How many anemones have you had before?

It doesn't look bleached...but doesn't look quite right. I've never seen any RBTA that light unless maybe it's recovering from a bleaching? The RBTA I have now is dark and is a clone ....the one i had before was dark and was a clone that just had split so I don't think that the color is justified by saying it’s because of a splitting.

I would feed it Silversides or Shrimp twice a week and let it adapt to the lighting and you should be ok.

Thanks jman77, I appreciate honest opinions once in a while.

The irony is killing me.

Good.
