vho to t5 ?s

You know the solution would most likely be to add more VHO's which you can't because of room. I wonder if switching to T5's you might be able to fit 4 bulbs. Then you can use (2) actinic and (2) bulbs that give you a 14k look like the UVL Aquablue

The reason I switched from my 10ks to Phoenix 14k was because even when I had the t5 actinics on, I couldn't tell the difference.

i though about that but i cant really fit 4 t5s unless i have them in the same reflector also i don't know how close i can have them to the halides.
another reason i want to get rid of the vhos i heard the absorb some of the metal halide light.

Keep the VHO, the UVL Super Actinic T5 is not nearly as nice looking as the VHO and they are very weak.

You should instead change out your 6500k bulbs with something along the lines of the Aquaconnect or some other 14k bulb.

I agree with Ray. I got the impression from your other thread that switching out the MH lamps was not an option. The 14k's have a nice crisp ice blue look to them.

i will switch after one year i don't want to switch now because i feel its a waste of money. i know i won't be able to sell these bulbs and i don't have the money for 2 new mh bulbs. i know the vhos were used when i bought the light set up maybe i should buy new ones
as far as 14k i hamiltons and didn't like the color and HATED the slow growth. i have a magnetic ballast would the Aquaconnect run on this ballast i think the name is blue wave pretty sure its a pulse start

I am not sure if it would fire them. Maybe jeff would know.

I think the hamilton 14ks are really weak. You should also see a difference if you used a true 10k bulbs. Buck50mg had some 10k bulbs he used that were very bright and white.

yeah i like the look of 10 with the vhos. and i liked the look with 65k untill they burned in. but i can wait for a few more months for new mh bulbs

Check the ballast rating on your MH bulbs or ballasts. Probably something like M57 I think for a pulse start magnetic ballast 175w. Mine are M58's which means that any bulb made to fire on an M58 ballast will fire on my set up (or at least that's the way I understand it to work.)
