VHO vs PC

is 60 watts of VHO more powerful than 96 watts of PC ... totally not impressed with my 20" 96 watt PC ... ??? VHO isn't commonly used as a sole lighting source for nanos ... how come?

Probably not used because most nanos are less than 20" and the smallest VHO is 24". PC is supposed to be stronger wt for wt. i personally think so. I used VHO for many years and now use PC and like there output better, plus they last longer and cost less nowdays.

What size tank are you considering as a nano? I have a 40 gallon tank and some people consider that a nano, to which I run VHOs on.

I am building a nano myself 7 gallons. And I am wondering how I am going to light it. I thought how about VHO, nope. There is not a VHO bulb that is short enough (9 in) to put over my tank that is the right wattage that I want.

why aren't VHO's more popular

why aren't VHO's more popular

my tank is ten gallons and i saw 30 watt 18inch VHOs on hellolights ... honestly, i think my 96 watt is not bright and might be faulty, but i've never seen any other tanks with it, albeit, the pictures on this sight ... and it is very dusky blue ... why aren't VHOs more popular >?

I have no idea how I posted this twice. I only hit the post button one time.

I think 10-30 is nano and smaller is pico, but there are many differences of opinion on this.

Yea I know. My opinion is Anything under 5 is pico and anything over 5 upto 30 is nano.
Well, you know opinions are like a**holes. Kidding. Yea, you are probably closer to being right according to nanoreef.com I'm anxious to get my 5gl Minibow going. I have a 1" in back wall for drain to sump and a 1/2" return. I am connecting it to the existing fuge/sump on my 20cube. I think I will be going with the Coralife 12" 36wt and keep yumas and a piece of rock
