After much discussion I've finally convinced husband to let me drill the tank. His biggest argument against it was "the tank might leak." I picked up the external overflow box and showed him the edges where the sealant no longer exists (you can actually pull apart the edges). When he suggested he would "glue it back together," I brought up the idea of the bulkhead (again) and the internal overflow with a modified durso standpipe. After some questions, he got that thoughtful look on his face...you know the one guys...like when you are building something in your mind.
Later that morning he said he was going to Home Depot. I asked him to price black PVC sheeting or black acrylic for the tank and when he asked, "What size do you need?" I knew drilling the tank was a go. I waited until he left the room to do my victory dance, the same one I used when I convinced him that TBS was the reef rock we wanted.
