Yeah, sometimes they just don't split. You would need for it to move around so you can pull it out to frag.

Nice job, pictures, and information will be a nice reference for hobbiest wishing to do the same:)
There should be a rule that hobbiest input on a thread should at least be a full sentence...lol You spend hours doing/building something then share it with others and they only have time to write three words and ones misspelled....what are you going to do life on the forums:)

Keep up the sharing!

I have a GBTA splitting on its own right now! not sure what i did different, but he must be happy

Typically they split on their own when they are looking to increase their chances of survival. Some people will move their anemone or change the flow or do something different to encourage them to split on their own.

My bubble tip is too small yet id imagine. Bout 5 inches acrossed. Glad I found this video. Probably a dumb question but would the same method apply to a condy, carpet and all other nems? Carpet seems like it would be a task

Thanks reepher315, I have had great success fragging BTA's. The only time I ever lost any was when I tried a quad cut. While others have been successful cutting 4 ways, I won't try that method again. They hung on for a few months but just didn't make it.

I have not lost any with a straight slice as seen in the vid.

As for other types of nems, I have not personally done any other anemones other than rainbow bta, rose bta and green bta. I have seen youtube videos documenting the fragging of carpets and condy nems and the same methods were used.

By the way, fragging the anemones was very helpful in my nano which was a mixed reef. This kept them small and allowed for me to keep up to 7 at a time. It was great for trading out to other reefers for frags and clownfish. (I love clownfish)

:)

I have a LTA, would the process be the same? I am incredibly nervous about doing this so i may just leave it alone. My LTA got caught in a powerhead over a year ago and when i was extracting it I felt liek it was in pain because when I pulled out every stuck piece it balled up and kinda pulsed. I know they dont have a CNS but it just makes you cringe when they do that. My LTA is about 7" across but when it gets upset it can ball up to about 2" across. How did you keep your BTA so open during the process? Didnt seem to mind it one bit. Great video and beautiful anemones.

You can only usually do this with the following anmeones- bubble tip - mags - and maxi minis. This should not be don't on a LTA as it will probably die...

Hi, I am new so I hope you don't mind my questions.

How would the anenome normaly reproduce in the wild?

You refered to "bubble" as her, how could you tell?

How long will it take for the little ones to equal the same size as the one you cut?

Thank you
