I am new to seahorses but not new to reefing.
I can't believe I waited this long to have seahorses! They are wonderful.
I got them as 2 year olds from another hobbyist.

Here they are peacefully eating at their feeding station:

An here they are chasing down saltwater ghost shrimp:

These are the BEST movies I've EVER seen!!! Beautiful! (great choice of music too)

Do you ever have a problem with the ghost shrimp stealing the seahorses' food? I just have ghost shrimp in my tank, still waiting to put seahorses in, and they are so aggressive with the food. They steal it off of my corals, etc. I'm assuming the seahorse would snick the shrimp up before they could eat the food.

Thanks!
I actually had my LFS get me the saltwater ghost shrimp rather than the freshwater kind mainly because I was worried the seahorses would take a long time to catch them and some freshwater shrimp might die and foul the water.
I was so wrong! lol
I shot the video the first time I put the shrimp in. They'd never gotten live shrimp before and look how fast they caught on! They can easily eat 15 shrimp in under 5 minutes. No worries about the shrimp having time to do much.

Thank you for posting the movies. Your horses are beautiful and they look so happy. I love to see happy healthy horses :)

Thanks Adrienne. They are fantastic creatures. I've been on the fence about getting seahorses for a couple of years and wasn't sure if I was up for the extra care required but then the opportunity arose and definitely don't have regrets now.
They're awesome!

They are 2 year old Reidi seahorses.
I purchased them along with their 30 gallon hexagon tank from a fellow reefkeeper.

I now have a new 60 gallon cube on order for them. Can't wait to see them in the new cube :)

Looks like 2 females, did you ever think about getting a male and breeding them?

Yes they are both female. I considered getting a male but I wouldn't be able to keep up with babies every month. That's a lot of work.
And since I am not aware of a reliable birth control method for seahorses I decided to stick with girls for now. :)
