To reply on the koralias, what type of coral are you wanting to keep? The 2's will probly work just fine untill you know what you want to keep.

the refugium should work, but why not just shove a glass fish tank in there and buy an overflow? Much cheaper and you can partition off the tank with some cheap platic from home depot and some silicone. A $15 6500K PC lamp from home depot would grow algae like mad. Just a thought.

the prob i have is the only thing that will fit under there is a 10 gallon tank ever thing else i was looking at is 12" under my tank i have 11" and thats it.

I agree with kodyboy 100% ! Look at how much that is going to cost verses, the cost of a cheap glass aqaurium, with home made divider's.I really wished that I had a camera, I would show you mine!!( I speand my money on live stock and needed equipment)

like i said i have 11 1/2" under there all the glass tanks i was looking at where 12" i spent all day today looking for a tub to go in there.

i have time im not rushing into anything yet im still doing some home work befor i buy anything ( except 2 koralias 2's) haha cant go wrong there
i was just look at some "sump's" on line cheaps one i can find that will fit is $199 its about 6" longer then the refugium i was looking at but dose not come with a overflow or a return pump so im spending 300+ after its said and done.....

the space i have is 38L x 11 1/2w x 16h...

What ever you decide what to do, is your decision but dont rush it,take your time and do it right. It paysoff in the longrun.
(man only if I had that advice when I got started)

The back of your tank is not solid, why not just pull it a little away from the wall so you 12 inches or so and then get a glass tank? Support it on the bottom with wood slats the same thickness as the bottom of your stand and you are good to go:) That way you should be able to get a 20long under there. I don't mean 12 inches away from the wall, just an inch or two so the glass tank can fit in your stand with a little part of it hanging over the horizontal wood bottom slat.

i dont know what coral's i want just for the simple fact i have never had any..... would i be better going with 2 of the 3's? or dose some corals like less? i have the cash to go either way..

the tankstand has 2 center dividers one of witch i took out and placed on the back side for support if i take it out i would have 12"s but was worred about supporting the tank.......

I don't think that you would have a problem without the support, but I am not 100% on that. You could also brace the corners with metal angle braces if you are concerned. Most of my stands have no center support, but they are not the same as yours.

I think that the 2's will work good enough to start with! Untill you get moore rock, getting the 3's or bigger will just blow sand from one end of your tank to another. Most of the coral's that you'll probbly start with should be fine. You just want good water movement in your tank.Just dont want to blast them with extremly hard water pressure. The leathers, buttonpollips and zoo's are all good choices to start with, also probly lps frogsprawn and torch and the such, only after your tank has been runing for sometime with no major problem's

so i went under the tank to check it out and there was no prob taking out the pice of wood out there was not presser on it what so ever it came right out.....

i will go with 2 of the 2's then for now.....
can i start adding liverock now? and what else can i start to add?
now that i have 12"s under my tank i can jus go get a glass tank for a sump and will do so in the morning i do have to wait for a overflow box as im ordering it offline noone in my town stocks them and wanted way to much....

Good deal, so now you can put a bigger refugium under there.
What are the demention's under there now? You might be able to get a 29 gallon tank under there 30"long 12"-1/2" wide 19" tall. If that is to big then check on a 20 long, I think that it is the same as the 29gallon just not as tall 12" I think, really dont know for sure.

it's now 38L x 12w x 20H

that leaves about 1/2" on the h & L and then like a 1/8" on the width...

jus gotta make sure i can angle it in there haha....

looks good:) now you can have a nice big sump and refugium. In addition you can get a more efficient sump based skimmer in the future as well (an octopus nw150 would be great or if you have the cash a das ex-1 or whatever future skimmer comes out). This should also save you some cash for future livestock.......

Do your homework on it, check on the 20long, becouse you defnitly want to be able to access it with no problem's. Highth is the biggest problem most peaple deal with. Just be able to get skimmer in and out as needed, and pump's to clean as they are needed to be done on a regular basis every couple of month's. also you might can get your measurment's and go to a few store's and just see what any of them have that would work.

I would second the height issue, too high and it becomes a PITA to access your equipment. A 20long sounds about right to me.

how much room would u say i will need from the top of the sump to stand 6"?

My guess would be about 10"to12" to be safe.
