Visiting San Diego

Hey anyone,

I'm going to spend the weekend fishing off San Clemente. I would like to stop buy a couple of good LFS's before driving back to AZ. Could anyone point me to your best local shops?

I hate to admit it, but Aquatic Warehouse is probably the best LFS in San Diego. It is well organized, clean and has lots of livestock. But they are expensive. The workers there think they know everything.

What are they catching off San Clemente right now? White Seabass? Rock Cod?

A bit of off subject, but the next time I'm in SD I would like to check out ClamsDirect.com

The SDreefs.com board talks about Octopussy Garden quite a bit.

Caveat.... I've never been to either (and I don't think they serve alcohol in these establishments!)

Right now it's generally Sculpin, SandDabs and some baby YellowTails near the LaJolla Kelp beds (leave the babies...)

I am told its yellowtail rock fish and possibly white sea bass. I am definately psyched. Hey thanks for all the info on the LFS. Most indebted. I will check them out.

Yellow Tail are jacks.... and White Sea Bass are croakers.
They both love live squid! Sardines can work when the squid aren't around. Both are excellent eating. Have fun!
