Vlamingi Tang

People have but it a very large fish that reaches 2' in length and is best suited for either a very very tank or a public aquarium. Also small ones don't have the colors of the adults until they get large, atleast 1'+, so if you plan on keeping a small one it's not going to look like the adult until it grows large.

I knew a guy that kept one in his 300 reef. It was a very peaceful fish. his was about 10" and great color. It was just starting to get its tralers on its fins.

They need large tanks with adequate swimming room (i.e. no box of rocks), plenty of planktonic foods offered on a frequent basis, and some occasional algae/seaweed/macroalgae/nori (though not nearly as important as in other tangs).

I have one I got about 3 months ago. I got it from a local guy that had it in his 90g, it was about 4 inches long and he said it had not grown much. I put him in my 300g reef with 3 other tangs and 2 sharks. He has doubled in size in those 3 months, i think he was cramped in the 90 with lots of rocks. My tank has only about 100lbs of rock so lots of swimming room for him and the sharks. He behaves great with the corals, sharks and other tangs. He will be going into my 600 in a few months. I would say they need at least a 220-240g as they swim back and forth all day. my .02c

I have one myself that is in a 500 gallon tang still not showing adult collor since only 4 inchs butis very calm doesn't bother anything but I was told and read that they do no tlike other tangs/surgeons of there same gene pool that much like naso and such. they ar enot going to kill but but they are like wolves they have their feeding orders
