Hello, i am dosing vodka from last 1 1/2 month and i want to add an anemone in my 30 gallon sumpless tank.

I hope anemones do not face any problems with vodka. Suggestion plz. Also i would like to ask whether i should go for bubble tip or carpet anemone.:o

Thanks in advance.

If done correctly, I never noticed any issues stemming from organic carbon dosing with anemones--only in some corals. Use the same precautions you would with corals and there shouldn't be any issues.

if you dose too much there wont be as many nutrients in the water and your nem may bleach out a bit. either nem is fine but carpets eat fish readily so be careful

I have dosed with three btas in the tank. Be sure not to overdose. I would suggest if this is your first anemone for it to be a bta.

I have three to 4 carpets, started dosing with vodka a couple weeks ago and it seems like they are doing well, also have a skimmer though which helps the situation. The carpets I have are all sensitive and delicate but they seem to be well in my tank and thriving.

How long have you actually had them?

I have had the nems for 3 to 4 weeks now and I am following melevs reefs formula for vodka dosing so I am administering vodka accordingly.

3-4 weeks is way to little of time to say that they are thriving. Give it a year at least before making judgment calls.

I'm still wondering if the OP knows what Vodka dosing is all about? He's saying he doesn't have a sump, but does he have an oversized HOB skimmer or something to pull the added organics out?

As per the OP's sig:
Tank:8 months 30Gallon Sumpless FOWLR, RO Water, Remora Skimmer, crushed coral or sand dont know. 1 t5 18wt light and 1 blue 18wt, 2 pheads 700lph&1400lph. 4fishes.

Not a skimmer I'd use under the circumstances, but it could do the job depending on how often it is cleaned, overall bioload, etc.

I was wondering if that was the one he was going to be using. Now that I reread the OP I'm a little more confused. It's a FOWLR... I don't see the point of dosing vodka. It just seems like a lot of work for something without coral.

I'd probably pass on an anemone altogether if those are the lights that you'll be using.

Have you had experience with anemones before?
