Vomiting Wires

Had to disconnect my Apex for service (it died) and temporarily connect to power strip. The reconnect is going to be miserable.

looks like inedible speghetti :)

I have been extremely impressed with these cable boxes I found on Amazon.

Here's what the back of my new frag tank looks now: (going to get a couple more boxes for the other tanks now!)

Just wipe it down? haha. Admittedly, this is not the ideal location for either the cable boxes or the frag tank. You like my second story carpeted spare bedroom locale? rawr.

So jealous of your new fish room.

Zrogst, that looks so clean. I'm inspired! Btw is the chamber between the filter sock and the skimmer filled w live rock rubble or is that a different type of substrate?

I was wondering the same thing. Almost looks like those super porous man made rocks they sell at BRS that are supposed to have unreal surface area.Zrogst, How about some more details on that sweet looking frag tank?

Don't mean to hijack, stoli probably won't mind though.

It's a 4x2x1 truvu coral flat (very reasonably priced, IIRC w/ return plumbing it was <$400); custom coast-to-coast overflow into 48" MRC Bio-Sump (very unreasonably priced, but beautiful and I wanted a quiet open stand design).

Sealed filter sock chamber leads into bio-media chamber (You guessed it, man made rubble with acres of surface area! made by MRC but I'm sure it's the same stuff that BRS sells)

The sump has a nice big area for filtration. I have two NR MR1's to add once the system is cycled, and I still need to hookup the BM doser. Running the DCS200 and DC3500, and two WP40s controlled through VDM on the Apex (Mistakes were made! Should have got the double-wire instead of two singles!) I think that's it!

Hoping to growout some good looking sps

Well that is one sweet setup. Did you buy the tank used then? And what about the lights and the mounts in the pic? Look similar to what I want to do using the 80/20 aluminum extrusion and linear bearing

I just ordered another tank for the fish room from MRC too. The detail and crafstmanship match the price tag and it's a good enough reason to keep the sump clean and show worthy.

The only thing that bought used is the BM Doser and dosing container (from a friend on nano reef) The three Sol Blues were "refurbs" direct from AI for $300/ea. I'm controlling them wirelessly with an AI Director Beta unit.

Can't wait to get some coral growing!

I like the look for that frag tank. Would probably make a neat looking shallow reef. How do you like the truvu? I'm looking for a new tank and was eyeing the ADA 120P but I heard they are tempered and cannot be drilled? Just shopping around for now but truvu's prices look pretty good.

Not trying to be profanity removed, but people really need to respect their electricity to saltwater ratio, seriously!
No drip lines is a house fire waiting to happen!! Even the best made tank, new or older can spontaneously spring a leak; plumbing leak can leak and equipment can leak.

Drip lines at a minimum, are mandatory! Too many people place their life and the lives of their families in the hands of GFCI outlets - these are NOT a guarantee save all!
You must have to plan and design and build your system and wiring to withstand worse case scenarios like a house fire or even a flash fire. WHY take a chance?!
Saltwater and electricity DO NOT MIX!

Do not use plastic power strips!

Agreed ^^^ Gfi are a must but they won't necessarily stop a fire. You have to have everything grounded for it to work. They stop you from getting shocked because you become the common. A lot of tanks are not grounded. You should never put your hands in your tank without a ground probe in the water.

This is, hopefully, a very temporary setup. Expect to have my Apex back in a few days and will then go back to safe wiring.

agree with bugs, I like it when you tell people about it and they will reply with "I have it for over ___ years and never had any problem"
