Vortech MP 40 Placement

I plan on getting two MP40s for my new 135 gal (48Lx24Dx27H) reef tank. What's the best way to place the pumps for the ecosmart settings? Opposite side of the tanks? I have a middle overflow (deep sea aquatics tank) - or one left and right of the overflow on the back of the tank? Any advice is appreciated.

supervdl,

I would recommend placing them on opposite sides from one another and experimenting with both speeds and modes until you find what works best for your aquarium.

I have the same question but my 125 is configured with corner overflows. My rock is higher in the middle of the tank. So while I can get one pump up front to flow down the front of the tank, I am not able to get a pump far enough back on the side to flow down the back due to the corner overflows. I think the best I will be able to do is get the one pump up front and then the other pump is really going to have a couple of obstacles in its path with the rock peaks in the center of the tank. Any thoughts on how that is going to work or ideas on optimal positioning?
Thanks

Tega,

I have seen lots of aquariums similar to yours with their VorTechs on the back wall of the aquarium. Personally, I have a corner overflow cube with an MP10wES on the back wall and am very pleased with the flow patterns.

That was a very intriguing thought and got as far as measuring the space behind my tank. I only have 2 inches :( I guess I will just have to play with it some.
