New magnets are $15.50 each. I think if you clean them with vinegar they will last longer

I don't think a vinegar bath wil help with anything. From what I've read, and I have 4 of these units, the magnets have a protective coating that eventually is permeable to SW which causes the oxidation.

Seems to be more and more issues cropping up involving the magnets, rusting, not sticking. I'm having the non stick issues with all 4 of mine on the 11/16's back of my tank.

Mrcrab-

Please contact our service department if you have not already done so (service@ecotechmarine.com) regarding your pumps not sticking. We will work hard to figure out what could be going wrong.

As we've said in the past, the magnets have a coating which permits the diffusion of oxygen and usually require replacement at around the 18month mark. Unfortunately, we are finding that the durability is just too variable. I have seen magnets from beta pumps with little to know corrosion below the coating and I have seen magnets at about 1 year which require replacement. If the coating is scratched or damaged corrosion will be accelerated, in this case magnets will be replaced per our warranty.

Regardless, we, like you, want to see improvements and are actively working on a better coating. Expect to see more about revised magnets shortly. In the mean time these magnets are an economical wear component, as we state in our instruction manual.

Tim, I've contacted Dave and he's been great it just seems that more and more people seem to be having magnet problems and I'm sick of packing my pumps off to send to IC. I bought the pumps to be on my tank not heading back and forth through the mail. It's a PITA.

I don't want this to turn into a b%$ch session or highjack someone else's thread, all I want is for the product to work as advertised.

I sent all 4 of these units back to IC to be refurbished to as new condition before I put the new drivers on and paid about $250 for that. I get them back and they don't stay on the back of my tank which is well within the thickness tolerences at 11/16's.

I specifically designed my tank for this product and was one of the first on board because I didn't want CL holes in my tank and all the associated plumbing, pumps etc. I didn't like the bulkiness of the Tuzes either and now I can't place them were I want.

After spending over 2g's for this equipment and associated repairs and refurbishing I'd just like a product that works as advertised that I can put in my tank and do simple maintenance on, cleaning every 4-6 weeks and enjoy my tank.
