hi,
got a vortech today the water flow is awesome but I'm having trouble making a wave.

when i turn the return pump off (eheim 2500l) i can get a good wave with the corals moving nicely on pulse mode on full power with the pulse setting at about 1 second pluse but when i turn the return pump back on the waves disappear.

my tank is a 4x2x2foot with the return pipe on the right and the overflow opposite with the vortech about 4" below water surface below the return pipe.

any ideas ?

cheers gaz

i slowed my return pipe down a bit and the wave started to come back, (but not as much as before) turned return pump back up and the Wave disappeared.

has any one else had this problem or have any ideas as its really starting to do my head in

do you have any ideas eco tech marine ?

cheers gaz

found out why i wasnt getting a wave !

the wave was hitting the stress bars along the sides of the tank so i lowered the water level and now i have a 1" wave

cheers gaz.

Glad to hear you got it fixed! I apologize for not responding sooner but I typically can't respond during weekends.

cheers tim,
i asked in another thread if the vortech will be ok left pulsing on max speed and pulsing every second ?
also when will i need to re-place the components if left on pulse?

cheers gaz

Pulsing should not affect the life of the pump. In fact, it should be easier on the pump over time versus running it continuously at the highest speed.
