Vortech Pumping Slow

My wortech has started pumping very slowly, near, it used to pump out a storm but it is at about 1/2 power now. i have taken it apart, cleaned it moved it around and it hasnt helped. Also the light on the controller is blinking slowly which if i remember correctly it used to be a solid green color.

Had the same happen to me. It turned out to be a magnet problem. Your probably going to have to send the unit in for repair. Take the pump out tonight and package it so you can send it in for repair tomorrow. If you get lucky they might be able to send you a new magnet but im sure they are going to want to take a look at it with the blinking lights and all. Whatever you do don't lag, as there is a good amount of down time involved with sending the unit in for repair. Trust me I know.

i think im gonna contact foster and smith and see if they can RMA the unit for me. Its my main flow in the tank and i cant be a week without it in an sps tank.

rawbomb,

Judging by all the nice deltec equipment, low iron tank, etc. you should be able to afford two of these. LOL. Pick up a spare and then send this one in. The way I see it, your equipment is the least expensive part of your total tank. You spend years and thousands growing mature sps in your tank and you do not want to loose it due to a busted pump.

I'm having the same problem with one of mine. Contact Dave @:

he'll hook you up. It's a problem with the power supply. The flashing green LED signals the unit is on a batery backup which it's not, correct? The power supply/converter's not putting out 24 volts only 12.

Sounds like a bad power supply. It's probably running slow because the voltage out of the power supply has dropped and now it's blinking because the voltage has dropped low enough to where the pump believes it's in battery backup mode.

That's what I just said! :D

Tim:

I have a one year old vortech that is running great. I just purchased a second one and it started out great and now a few days later it is running at approx. half speed. I've tried adjusting it and making sure no air is present in the wetside.

Suggestions?

Just wanted to say my pump seems to be picking up the pace. My year old pump (just cleaned) is still putting out more flow but only like 10% more.

Is this normal?

I did play with the alignment a little bit, maybe in another week they'll be equal?
