VorTech setting in SPS systems.

Hello. I have an all SPS tank and reciently put an MP10 into it. I am curious to what settings you guys have your controllers set to. Currently I have mine set to "reef crest" mode but im wondering if anyone uses any of the pulses instead?

I was going to post this in the hardware forum but im really only curious what other SPS reefers are doing. Thanks guys!

I also recently got a MP10 and really like it. I run mine in lagoon mode because when I looked at the graphs in the manual it was more random than the reef crest mode. I have tried tinkering with the short pulse mode to get a wave effect but cant get it dialed in.

yeh I played with the short pulse mode and got a pretty sweet wave going in my tank but I couldn't handle the noise. The vortech makes a constant vroooom, vrooooom noise in that mode lol

I use short pulse on a 34 solana and get a good wave from it. I prefer the wave because even areas of the tank that dont get direct flow are still getting movement from the mass of water moving back and forth. My sps seem to like it.

Hm other than the noise from the vortech in short pulse, when I get a wave going it also creates a lot of noise of water splashing over my overflow lol. I am not sure how you guys can live with that!

I dunno, my system is almost completely silent other than the return pump hum.

Also do the short pulse. Once the lights go off it goes into the night time mode, that way i can sleep without that noise!

Noise if definitely a factor with these units I use the reef crest mode and had it for over 6 months now

I run mine in pulse mode. In a 4ft tank with only 1 MP40W I get a pretty decent wave. I'd probably splash water on the floor if I had 2 of them.

2 mp40's running 100% on lagoon mode. If you have a center overflow you won't get the sloshing from a wave as part of the overflow will always have water going over it.

MP40 and doing long pulse mode...The sound is definitely not as bad as the short pulse. I noticed the best polyp extension on the SPS in that mode. I did reef crest for about 3 months and wasn't happy with the PE on them.

2 mp40's on reefcrest at 100% in a 6 ft tank. Good water movement everywhere. Are most of you running the pumps in sync or no?? Mine are running separately in reef crest. Seems to get a nice random flow, but wonder if it would be better in sync???
