Sorry for the double post, i got a picture with less rock
The batfish is already out (before i took some of the rocks out he was in a corner of the tank). He's the small greyish thing on the left side of the picture. This is enough room i assume correct?
One thing that I mentioned, but did not elaborate on is the fact that batfish don't know enuff to stop when they reach the clear tank pane...they always want to continue on, which is why it's swimming against the viewing panes, hence the reason peeps add the dark band around the bottom part of the tank...the fish see it as a barrier and stop. Batfish will often literally rub their rostrums raw/off, and often die of secondary bacterial infections as a result of the wound.
I put up a black backdrop a few days ago that ive been meaning to put up. Hes stopped on that side alltogether. He only does it occasionally now to the front but it's really not that often
I have a walking batfish also. I got him from my local petstore and they couldnt tell me crap about him. I ended finding all the info out by websites and had to adjust my tank and I didn't have any fish that were aggressive and compete for the food. He will only eat live ghost shrimps, and he loves them. He will try to even go after the big ones if he can get them down. I now try to get them small so that he can glump them down in one bit. You really need to have one side of your tank free for him to walk and make sure he has room all around the corners and also maybe put the a black strip of background at the bottom of the tank like the other guys say. I would keep trying live ghost shrimp and then try to wing him on other frozen foods. You could even get a small circulation fan to help make them move around. Or even try to attach something on a small fishing line to make it look like its moving. But mine is very picky and only eats live ghost shrimp so I'm going to try to wing him to eat other foods.. Or even start a small 10 gallon tank to breed ghost shrimps. You can even gut load the shrimps. I seen alot of opinions about gut loading the shrimps.
So which place does everyone order ghost shrimp from. I have issues with newly acquired banggai and I am waiting on an order from reefs to go for the amphipod pack. I hd placed an order on Monday and it doesn't look like I will get it until next week or so. Any other recommendations on food to try for picky eaters. I have tried hikari mysis and Sally's pacific plankton. Maybe I am doing it wrong. I am defrosting the food in tap water and picking out the pieces
Thanks wii64. I went out to the Lfs and got some bs eggs and some reed mariculture algae . I wll have to hatch and grow them. I also bought some cyclopleeze and pe mysis. This time I didn't defrost with tap water. I mixed them together and the cyclopleeze scent initiated a feeding response from two of the banggai. They did eat some mysis yet not all, better than nothing. The flame angel started to pick at things again with the cyclopleeze scent. It is a shame that cyclopleeze isn't in bigger chunks with agar so that the banggai s would get a mouthful.
