Walmart (Culligan) Water

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere, but the search is not currently enabled.

I noticed that the drinking water sold at Wal Mart is carbon filtered, RO'd and then UV sterilized. @ $.33 per gallon that should make it pretty good water for use our tanks wouldn't it?

I'm about to setup my 50gal tank as my display tank and use the 40gal as the sump/refuge.

my LFS is $.50 p/g for DI.

What kind of tank are you setting up ?

I would be concerned about silica among other things.

A good ro/di unit will pay for itself in no time. Then you know what you are putting in your tank.

It might be fine, but I'd get a TDS meter to make sure the quality is good and stays good.

I used the water for 2 years before i bought an ro/di unit , if you look on the water machine it self there is a matinence record which tells you when the come to check it ,and what the tds reading was .Our machine was worked on at the end of each month so thats the time to buy.I just did not want to hull buckets back and forth

Iv'e been using it for over 2 years. 20 gallons a week....30 bucks a month or so.

I really need to get a unit.
