want to get new fish...two cranky tangs :(

I think your problem is tank size.
I'm not sure two crowded tangs are going to ever allow anything else when they already don't have enough room themselves.

was a little concerned about the blonde naso. live aquaria list it as 180 and the tank size for tangs list says 8ft 240. i got the naso last year and it was a juvi it didn't have the black stripe on its tail or any orange near its scalpel. my lfs and i weren't even sure it was a blonde naso. since i got it it now has started to develop the black stripe on its tail the orange near the scalpels is starting to develop as is the face mask . i knew eventually it would have to go but thought i would have some more time with this beautiful fish. are the suggest tank sizes the suggestions for their entire life span or just when full grown? feel kind of guilty now.

as far as the purple goes it's definitely a grower it was no bigger than a quarter or maybe half dollar piece(if anyone is old enough to remember those) now it is almost as big if not bigger than my yellow tang was when i re-homed it. this fish i'm more concerned and confused about tank size for tangs list says 5ft 120 and live aquaria says 125. but how could you possibly keep one in such a small tank when they are reputedly extremely pugnacious as i've learned

do you all agree with the above? is it time to find new homes for the tangs and start over with a new stocking plan and in a better order?

drunkenclown looks great love your rock work . Egg crate works great . My tank is 60x32x24 had most of the fish about four years . When they get to big I will sell them and people love to buy fish that eat everything . At least I can enjoy them and watch them grow . Lots of reefers on LI

not only do those naso's get to be over a foot long but those Maroon clowns can be extremely territorial. I had one that would attack my hand any time I was near his home

My advice, get rid of the two tangs if you want a stress free tank. Only tang I would get is convicts.

haha I agree. I've never had an aggressive Naso though (3) ^

I just had to pull my Achilles, Sailfin and Yellow tang this morning into the sump to allow the new Majestic angel and Blueline angel which is the largest fish to settle in without being attacked. In the last two months all Ive been trapping are tangs, since I have 3 tanks: Achilles, Goldrim, Lieutentant, Yellows, Sailfin; trying to find a balance where they can all coexist. In my experience All acanthurus and zebrasoma surgeons are by far the most territorially aggressive fishes. My Achilles likes to chase defenseless fish like dispar anthias, copperband butterflies for no apparent reason, maybe my tank isn't big enough. Ill be trying to put the Achilles and Goldrim together in my fowlr again. Last time it only lasted a week and they were at constant war day and night.
