want to move somewhere i can scuba dive and snorkel

My dad has a blast living in the US VI and having dived there a few times when I visited him. I'm in my early 40's btw :) I can see how he fell in love with the place.

If you are looking for a real total fresh start look at Guam. Living costs are so-so, its just like a US state and the diving isCHEAP. It is some of the best in the world.

South florida and the keys are just ok. Visability is often poor with 20' being a good day. However bahamas are close and offer the clearest water in the world. The reefs are good and full of sharks. Alot of fun.

What are you smoking?? Visability 20FT?? Never had 20ft visability here in key largo, It would have to pretty much be a full blown hurricane to have that bad of visablity. I can see at least 50ft on a bad day, Diving just okay here? not a chance, the diving is great here and is easaly in one of the top ten places to dive.

If you want to dive every day I would remove Texas from the list, the diving here can be good but it is really rare to have good days during late fall/winter/early spring, so basically you can't dive for 6 months of the year.

Now, about the tax comments, haha, interesting ones as I was thinking about that the other day. True, Texas and Florida don't have state income taxes, but have you compared property taxes here with other states?

Anyhow, if you want cheap and good dives I would go either Florida or Guam. If you can live with a higher cost then Hawaii or the Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico is also a cheap option.

i just moved to the marshall islands. you can check this link (see below) to see if there is a job suitable to your skill level. we love it. we went snorkeling at the local beach, and corals are literally attached to the jetty, so its about a 10' walk out to the shallows to see the coral heads. this is very "fisher price", as there are lots more corals around the RMI. i have not gotten scuba certified yet, but everyone on the island is scuba certified.

good thing about living here, its approx 1500 Americans on the island....so you'll have access to most things like food, beer etc.

tax free, free housing, free utilities, etc. i am sooo happy we made the move. great place to raise kids too. of course, with any situation, there is a flip side to the coin, but for now, focusing on the good stuff...havent been here long enough to be jaded. its one of those things, you get here and you want to stay forever, or you get here, and you cant wait to leave.

good luck!
