hello I am curious with breeding faulse perculas and just had a few questions. Do I have to buy My clowns as a pair?? do I need to remove the parents from the fry tank??I have never done this, Is the chemicals that I have to put in the water to make them mate? thanks for all the help I have never breed any fish but guppies when I was live 12 years old. want to try something different, can I breed clowns In a 12 gallon tank??

Buy Joyce Wilkerson's book CLOWNFISHES. Best way to start. Would also suggest reading as many posts in this forum that you can that discuss breeding clowns.

Is the chemicals that I have to put in the water to make them mate?

I find that adding this to the water helps the mating process.

Methylenedioxymethcathinone

I bought the book "Breeders Guide" and it gives me details about more than just clownfish. It seems like a lot of reading and even more trial and error.

you do not have to buy 2 percs as a pair but it much easier .. if they are not already a pair there is a possibility they never will and you would have to seperate them

i Had a pair of maroons for 6 years that never laid. I had a moon light. water above 80.. everything. til someday someone told me to add inland seas bio trace *basically kent coral vite* so i did.

they started dancing that night!!!!! took a few more weeks i was adding it weekly and i had eggs by week three.. coincidence??? maybe. who cares it worked

is that true about adding Methylenedioxymethcathinone

Hmm, interesting ;) I don't know really, but I am sure that there are cheaper/easier ways of mating that won't get you into any legal trouble (for the fish that is...)

A 12g tank should be fine for a pair of perculas if water quality can be maintained. Two small fish of that species will generally form a pair in-time. Constant conditions, lighting cycles, and quality feeds several times daily with minimal disturbances seems to be the "tried and true," plus you won't have to face a judge concerning analogue laws should you be caught
