I am looking for a small footprint skimmer that runs fairly quiet without giving up quality.

What are your thoughts on Tunze skimmers? Any problems and/or complication? Are Tunze skimmers quality product? How is the noise level?

Can you add a tub to the skimmer waste cup for external waste collection? Any other modifications?

Thanks for sharing.

Check out the Tunze thread; I've been following it for a while, and literally just ordered one from Marine Depot for the tank in bedroom. If you give me until Wednesday, I can shoot you some pics/review. I'm farrr more interested in the fact that everyone seems to believe they're virtually silent, and typically Tunze, solid performers/well made. This is a small reeftank I'm starting in my bedroom, and sleep is precious. :)

Only complaint/issue seems to be that the Venturi adjustment screw is a bit too short out of the factory; but they're supplying replacement parts to anyone that needs them...

i have an older 3115 model and am not impressed with its performance at all.

it doesnt skim nowhere near as good as a small euroreef and lets not even talk about big ol' becketts! ;)

Got it today; but neck deep in work for, well, work. Bastiges won't even let me play with my new toy...

I'll try to get it in the tank tomorrow; get some pics up shortly after. Only impression thus far; quiet. I stuck it in a sink to break it in a bit, and the Pumps running the reefpack are absolutley the quietest skimmer I've ever heard. Bar none. Seems to be a pretty simple design; I've got one of the Nano-Reefpacks; so it's essentially a smaller version of the picture you've got above...

I will agree, it prolly won't outskim my MR-2; but it doesn't need to, this is a little bedroom tank. I'll do a slightly bigger water change to not hear my Pan-World whirring away while I sleep. That stuff can stay in the utility room, in the basement, thanks.. :)
