Wanting a green fish

I am wanting to get a green fish. My mom loves to look at my tank but she is getting old and has a hard time seeing real well. She mentioned that a green fish would look nice. So I am wanting to get one for her enjoyment! I have a 55gal reef. Fish so far are 1 spot fox face, orange dimond goby, yellow tail damsel, 4 stripe damsel, yellow tang and a flame angle. Any recomendations on a pretty green fish?

You might want to consider "trading in" a fish or two if you want to add another fish. Unless you want you tank to primarily be a fish tank w/ a super hardy coral or two. All that fish poop will make it hard to provide an environment for healthy corals. (If it were me, I'd return the Tang as would probably be the 1st to out grow your tank)

It may just be me, but Green Chromis are more blue than green.

Also, There are probably more responsible choices for a new 55G than a Mandarin Fish.

If you don't want to give up any fish, you could probably add a Green Clown Goby without much negative impact. But, they are little and may not be easy to spot for someone with poor eyesight (though, I do love the "Where's Waldo" aspect of my aquarium).

Also, many of the other gobies and some blennies have a mottled appearance that is frequently green. Although it is more of a 'camo' green color and pattern, not a 'look at the pretty shade of green' color.

By the way mwhite, where did you get the Melanurus Wrasse. And how do you like him. What he like. I have wanted one of those in my tank for a long time now...

I went by my LFS and he had gotten him in with a bunch of other fish, Sort of a freebe from the shipper. It took us a while to discover exactly what kind of a wrasse it was since it is unusual. I was attracted by the stripped pattern of fine lines on the green background. It also is a peaceful fish and doesn't get that big. LiveAquara has them too but I probably would not have ordered one based on their picture.

I first ran across them when I was looking for a fish that would eat flat worms. Flatworms are no longer an issue, but I still would like to have that fish... I bet you dont have any flatworks in your tank.

I've never seen any but I just added some more live rock. Who knows what hitch hiked this time? He seems very peaceable and like most wrasses spends a lot of time going into and out of the caves in the rock.

and its of the Halichoeres genus (same as Melanurus we talked about above) so he probably a well behaved fish that doesn't get too big, and its pretty. I like Halichoeres wrasses...

Oh, and you need a sandy bottom.

That doesn't mean you need to sit on the beach :)

they sleep in the sand. I have wondered how fine the substrate needed to be for them. My substrate is fairly coarse. I saw justdave put a little tupperware full of sand in his bare bottom tank for the wrasses. I guess you could do that if the substrate is to coarse also...

And he is a jumper... so batten down the hatches.
