Wanting to add an anenome...

Can somebody tell me a little bit about anenomes? I am thinking about getting one for my clowns. I don't want to get into anything that is expensive. I try to keep things simple. I saw one at Petco tonight that was about $7.00 but didn't want to get it until I learned more about how to take care of it and if it was easy to take care of. Any info would be appreciated.

Depends on what type of anemone you get. The ultra cheap anemone will not be hosted by any clowns other than a maroon clown I think, not sure on this. You would probably need to get an anemone that is not a condilactic, for your clown to possibly host it. I would check in the anemone forum to get the exact details.

probably need a bta. should be big enough that your clowns wont beat it to death. i dont think the petco one will do.

from what I know clowns are somewhat particular about what they use as a host..

They are....have 3 and two are pair i rescued and none of them hosts in anything...

after my maroons original host died i bought a small on and they killed it. i put some anthelia in its place till i could replace it just wondering and i have never bought the new anemone. the maroons seem to like the anthelia better than the anemone. i will have to post picks

That is funny...My onyx clowns love their anthelia island. Their home is coming out though. They are going to host the anemone or else. lol

I have two Oscellaris Clowns, and no anemone, and they host in my Green Tree Coral.

It closes up at night and the clowns are almost sucked up into it completely. Kind of funny.

Am getting an anemone once my 75 is set up and mature.
