Warner Marine Now Has A Pellet Product

Has anyone ever thought of dosing bacteria right into the reactor to add diversity in the strains of bacteria. For instance, dose MB7 and SpecialBlend???

Well week 6 of running 1 liter of EB.
All is well. AMEN!
EB is tumbling nicely.
Stats
Phosphate is a 0 according to Salifert
Nitrates are at around .02 to .08 according to Salifert

Colors in corals are still holding. Interesting fact that even the zoes that are not under lights have excellent color.

When you guys measure Nitrates using Salifert test kit and it is below 10ppm do you guys folllow the low range results, since that is what they recommend?

I do... look through the side against the chart and divide by 10.

What were your params when you started 6 weeks ago. How much flow do you think you are running through the reactor?

Mine have come to a screeching halt in terms of tumbling and my n's are going up >_<
Really wish those plastic discs would hurry up and get here

Looks like I may have an alternative. BRS released modded version of there reactors for pellets. It's like 8$ for just the chamber. I may pick one up as a backup.

Does the pellets need to be wash (like GAC and GFO) before use? In other word, are the pellets "dirty"? What's the idea of soaking them in RO/DI for 24 hours before use?

I just started using the pellets tonight with GFC in the second chamber of my dual BRS reactor. I'm using a MJ1200 for the pump. The output is right on top of my skimmer pump and the input is also in the same area of my skimmer section. Where do you guys usually have the pump at? I started with 250ml with my tank.

platax88 my params were 20 to 25 in nitrates
and phosphates were usually around 10 to 15.

As for flow I am running my SICCE Syncra 3.0 pump at full blast. It is about 1.5 feet head distance. I have calculated, as an estimate right around 600 gph.
I know that sounds like a lot but from the recommended 100 gph and with my tall MR1 and 1 liter of EB that rate was not allowing the pellets to tumble.

I will turn down the pump after week 7 to see if the params change. If they do for the worse then I know I need to keep mine at full pump power.

after 24 hrs of soaking into RO water, some of my pellets are still clumbing and floating. is it normal? i will try to sake the reactor in a bit to see if all the air bubble will come out.

dzhuo, i think it will help to settle down the pellets so they will not all floating on top of the reactor. not all of my pellets are on the bottom of the reactor yet.

Hmm... wouldn't you got the same effect by putting the pellet in reactor in the tank? Even without soaking separately in RO/DI, it would at most floating to the top of the reactor for one day right? Or is there a difference soaking in tank water vs. soaking in RO/DI?

Also, for those that don't soak in RO/DI, how much washing is required before you put them in the reactor?

i did the same. i just soaked them and put them in after 24 hrs. most of the pellets are at the bottom after couple hrs of initial start up.
