i dont understand why you would want a deap sandbed??? it will take away from the swimming room in the tank for the animals.
most people are doing remote DSB.
if i were you i would get the regulare amout of sand. 2-3 in at most. save the money from that and get a better skimmer(not saying the one you choose is bad or insufficiant). maybe larger skimmer is the word im looking for.
i have a 250gal(rated) skimmer on my 55 with a 15 sump. its a tank. but thats just me
