Definitely put it on the ply on the floor. I think a cinder block on each corner would leave to much unsuported in the middle of the tank.

here is my idea so i can control the flow to my refuge but still allow the full flow rate decided by my return pump.

Got my tank delivered today!!!! I am very happy with it, over flow box is nice and low profile like i wanted. I am messing with the plumbing tonight and might paint the back of it black tomorrow and run some fun test!! I still can't believe how much bigger it looks in my house!!!

A few said the tank should be right on the ground for the plumbing test, but will it be ok now that i added another sheet of ply wood, its a bit more then an inch thick ply now. If it is still not ok i will put it on the ground.

lol its holes haha the top ones behind the box are drains and the other 4 are for the closed loop, the return is going to come up over the back with lock line so that you do not see anything in the tank.
Question----i am now thinking of just doing 1inch pvc for the drain....what do you all think about that, since my drain holes are 1inch would i get more flow if i used wider pvc, even though my return pump will only be able to push 850 gph.

Also i was going to use a bigger return size, like 1.25 but then i am going to be using 3/4 lockline so there is really no point right??....i will get 775 gph with 1inch or 820 gph with 1.25--but like i said it will go from 1.25 to 3/4 so will that still give me close to 820----i think i am just being flow crazy now lol.....i will have PLENTY of flow inside the tank anyways---just wanted a good sump turn over.....and again i have trouble organizing my thoughts on paper so i bet this is a pain to read---thanks in advance!!
i changed my ball valves idea as you can see, i will still have my 2inch and 1.25 for the dart and the others, but thats it for the closed loop.
tomorrow i am building my little stand for the dart to sit next to my sump.

i want to get ahead of nitrates before i have them, i think the high levels in the past were my cause of so many horrible problems, the main one i hate is my stupid rock color--thats dark greenish brown....and i would like do be able to have some SPS in the new tank. so i am leaning towards a RDSB
what type of sand is best....i would like to keep the cost nice and low, as i have just spent a lot this month lol, and what pump, flow rate should i have through the jug. i could drill holes in it and use bulk head to drain the water back out of it. here is what i would be working with....
those cords will not be there with the new tank lol, and i should be able to fit that behind the stand.....i guess i could run a pvc pipe to the bottom of it and let the water flow back up to the top of it and out.

if i were to do this would 7 well 6 gallons be enough to handle my system....i think 5 gallons is like 60 lb of sand, i might key word is might be able to put 2 of those jugs behind my stand but would that just be a waste.....120lb of sand?? my system would be at max 150g i think. oh and i have about 10 or 15 lb in my fuge...i guess if those jugs were set up it would just be for looks in there.

correct me if im wrong someone, but for the drain, I've heard its better to run a sweep elbow instead of a standard it increases water flow really good I've heard, just giving you an idea matt before you get all plumbed, I may be wrong this is just what I've heard from a few people.

i am using a durso for my drains...its a T, but i am putting caps on them and drilling a hole with air line to reduce noise, its lets air out so it drains better or quieter i think....the elbows you see in the picture are for the closed loop--those are where water will be pushing in from....unless your talking about the 2inch elbow...i may still switch to a wider 90 kinda like a half U, but i like that the big elbow-90 does not take up much space.....also i am using street or is it sweep elbows on my 1inch bulk heads you see for my closed loop--thats the only part i have dry fitted now Luke. does that make sense??

I am going to fill it with water ASAP....waiting on the black silicone around my overflow box to dry then i will turn the hose on!!
I am also looking at getting a 40watt or maybe bigger t5 uv sterilizer--they don't cost too much so i think its a good idea, i have a 9 watt on my 75 and like the clear water. ---i can't remember if i already posted about that.
Soooo does the 2 layers of ply wood seem to be strong enough for a water test or should i place it on the floor like others said??

so this is what i have so far....having the dart understand is way too much work and do not have much space....i think i will save that room for another pump or something....some pictures of my "plumbing area" and set up.

well "return" for the closed loop....the return from the sump will come up over the top of the tank. i am going to use lock line on the bottom holes that will be hidden by rocks and an holes that the rocks do not cover up the holes i will just leave the hole for the water to push out of....trying to make this a VERY clean and clear tank.
