was my 75 build nows its my 110 tall

the vortech is nice huh??? you're kinda doing what I did originally with my build. I did dart with om4way and got rid of it to go with tunzes and vortechs.
I love closed loops, don't get me wrong, but tunzes and vortechs can do so much more/more options and ease of control. besides, no plumbing. I hate plumbing now!! I was ok with it before, but after two closed loops, I'd never do it again.
If you already have the closed loop, I say keep it and just add the vortech. that should be a lot of flow already. Then later if you feel like adding another vortech, do so. a closed loop with two vortechs, now that's tight!!

yeah both are up and running....lots of flow...another vortech would be sweet if i need it.....i do wish i could turn the flow on the dart down like i can with the vortech but its nice.....got the plumbing strait and video will be posted soon. the different modes are cool, i am still learning how to use it.

ok some pictures of the surface and the closed loop...a little video or two....still seeing how i want the flow directed...and the back will be painted black as well as the pvc in the tank....nothing will be visible except for the vortech...because it just looks cool lol and the tips of my return lockline over the top....do not think i am going to put any thing in that one bulk head because that will not be behind my rocks....but maybe a just a lock line flare we'll see.

ok heres some stuff:

it looks like the dry side is way off but thats just how it looks in the picture...oh did i say that it is also very quiet....only time i notice it is one fast pulse mode on full power.

yeah lol i have tons of left over 1.25 inch pvc and return 3 true union ball valves so i got back 40 bucks so i am happy....and need to get another 20 feet i think of 1inch for the 2 drain lines about 5 feet each and the return about 5 feet also....still have tons of 45s and 90s. i am shooting for sometime next week to have it on the stand and switching my live stock over to it. i can't wait to see my tangs enjoying the room.

did u end up siliconing those bulkheads or no? if not are they leaking?

i put a bead under them all and hand tighten them then use a pipe wrench and did another quarter turn or so......the 2inch bulk head's gasket is hard to get flat to i think that was the problem with that one, but once i tightened it some more it was ok....just not so much to crack it....i could care less if i had to buy another tank, but the floors would be trashed if i had 110 gallons on them.

nice nice, i didnt silicone mine at all just 1/4 turn pass hand tight with channel locks, maybe ill throw some silicone under mine tomorrow, before i turn on my water. :D

lol nooo just city water....i do not have an r/o system yet....thats my next buy after my big UV sterilizer...that i might get tomorrow. well i used silicone because the glass had a few light nicks in it, so i had to seal them, the only other one that leaked was the 2incher but that was just not tight enough i think, i put it on EVERYTHING though, uses marine epoxy on my 2inch TUBV (true union ball valve lol) i wish i had access to it like yours will be but mine will be against a wall.

i am still running my CL to test for leaks for another few days...then will be making my pump stand that will just bolt onto the back of my stand...and then i will switch the tanks. more soon!

update...just re did the intake for the closed loop...i used a product called "hot cement" its a blue color...it was very nice to use...and i think thinker then the clear regular pvc glue....i also bought 2 house floor jacks....i know a 110 tank is not as big as most of your tanks but i am in a nice lol but older built house so am being careful i guess. Each jack is rated at 16000lb and i am using a 4x6 to spread the pressure and such out. more pictures soon.

been running around all day today....setting up the tank tomorrow!!! i also picked up another 18 watt coralife light for my fuge for 10 bucks....so now i will have 3 of those fixtures over my macro now so i hope it grows nice and fast now.

Interesting thread....gonna follow along and see how things go. I dont have much experience:( so I wont be much help there but I will try to crack a joke every now and then-try and add value any way I can!:smokin:

Cars....its a mixed bag of nuts. Alot like this hobby-everybody does it different-hopefully nothing gets hurt in the process.

My real passion is banking...ok not really, but it could be.:)
