What are some experinces w/ this fish. I looking to add to my tank and I am leaning towards a watanabei angel or a clown fairy wrasse. I have a lyrentail, 2 chromis, and a xmas wrasse. Any inputs please. I would like to order this today. Please post pictures if you have them.

I love mine, but he was male when I bought him and has now switched to female.

Terrific reef fish. My pair are some of my favorite fish ever.

Here are some really bad pics of mine:

I had them, they are really nice fish. I would get a female, because as bradleyj noted, a male will become female coloring in the absense of females, so it's not really worth the extra money for the male. HTH

Sorry, no photos of mine as my digital camera isn't working, but I have a trio, two females and a male. I think they are really great fish. They never bother anything, eat everything I offer, and have been very interesting to watch, especially their interactions together. They spend most of their time out in the open and are really beautiful, very vibrant blue.

I personally find the bellus more attractive, but watanabeis are from the same family. They all seem to be friendly, reef-safe, and out in the water column a lot. My swallowtail is.

The genicanthus group gets along very well with all the fishes in the tank and I don't think you'll have any problem.

I think a 90 is too small for a watanabei. They can grow reasonably big and are active swimmers. My pair is constantly darting and dancing around the tank.

I got mine as a pair. It was very much a male when I got it. The one in gasman's pic is a recent changeover since it still has the female body shape. The males get huge "throats", the streamers and more defined stripes when they have been a male for a while. They do grow some, but rather slowly.

where are you guys getting your watanabeis and bellus, locally or through websites?

looking for a bellus right now. :)

At the moment I only see the bellus and its a male at bluezoo and it must be special ordered.

Marine Depot live. It was suppose to be here yesterday but I got a notice saying it was on backorder. That's funny because I called and asked the availability and the CS rep said it was available. This is the second time they did this. The last time this happened we ended w/ a dead fish. When they told me that the fish was on back order, I cancelled my order. I went to another company and ordered from them. I received the fish, then one day, I think it was thanksgiving day, my wife said that there is a package on the door step. I went to see what it was, the box said LIVE TROPICAL FISH. It was 10 degrees outside. Fedex dropped off the fish when no one was home and it froze to death. I didn't know a fish was coming. That sucked.

lilchris-- oh wow, that's horrible. that's what makes me nervous about ordering fish online. i am lucky to have some great LFS in the area, but bellus just don't show up too often here.

flameangel--- quite a nice collection there :)

anyone keeping a bellus pair?

my female watanabei is aggressive to other zooplankton feeders and especially because she was the largest fish in the tank till this weekend. great fish though and always swimming
