Watanabei Transformation?

Got a new bonded pair of large watanabei angels (male and female both ~5 inches). The male did not make it but the female immediately took to the aquarium as if it were her own (150gal reef). We may or may not decide to replace the male if we can find one, but if we do, I'm not sure whether to expect wedding bells or fighting. Should I buy a small female and allow the large female to metamorphosize into a male? Will any male get along with her if he's a new introduction? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Buy a small female, they are cheaper, available more often and hardier than males. There are no guarantee on a pair. They will be different sex but may just tolerate or moderately tolerate one another.

If you do as suggested, it is likely (but not sure) that the existing female will become male. Males of Genicanthus are often difficult shippers.
