Watchman goby

I know watchman gobies protect their space, has anyone had two of them in a tank. I have a pink watchman in my tank and a friend wants to give his yellow watchman to me, is their a reasonable chance they can accept each other space in a 90 gallon tank with lots of rock places to work out their sepearat spaces.

All I've been told is that gobies and blennies should be limited to 1 per tank. But I'm a novice myself.

I do have a question about yellow watchmen gobies, are these considered sand sifting gobies? Or do they just build a den and then eat stuff in the water column?

I too have been wondering this, but I wouldnt try it, because if Goofy (my YWG) died, my dad would probably try to strangle me (its his faveorite fish).

YWG are shrimp gobies, meaning they form symbolic relationships with pistol shrimps.

I have a yellow watchman and a diamond goby in my tank. I have seen them approach each other and they look like they will have a fight, but they go their separate ways and nothing happens. I have found that every fish has a different personality and temperment (much like us) and some get along when the "book" says no and others fight when "the book" says they will get along. Try it, but have a net handy and a backup for where they will go if they fued.

from what i have heard you can pair them but its kind of like the clownfish thing where you have to get the small one to add. supposedly, people have been able to add yellow watchman that is smaller than the one in the DT and have had no problems. one becomes female and the other male, but ive never tried this myself

the problem is that these fish would be two differnet species, and so would almost definetly not become mates...

I have a YWG and a Randall's goby in my 29g. They get along fine and even "snuggle" sometimes. When one gets startled, he'll dart over to the other one.

They look really dissimilar from each other though, so I don't think they see each other as a threat. Most of the books I have say to avoid mixing ones that have similar coloration.

Watchman gobies have a territorial space of around 12 inches so, unless they both like the same cave, then you will be fine.
