Watchman Yellow Goby not doing well

Has cloudy eyes, isn't eating. I just bought him 3 days ago from the LFS and he was eating in their tank. Is it because he has no sand in the QT tank?

I can't get pictures but from what the GF says I think it's a bacterial infection. How do you treat it. Ohh, and I'm in Canada, so no anti-biotics available here.

If it's infection you can use cupramine and no he's not going to die if there is no sand.

Have you got Maracyn available? Copper is for parasites. This is probably bacterial. Also check your salinity. S/b 1.024-1.026. That 0 is important!

Refractometer said 1.025 when I left for the work camp. Doubt it's changed.

I'll check on Maracyn, I sent the GF to the LFS today to get some medication. I'll post back what she was sold.

The LFS sold my GF API Melafix Marine. Also said the product could help my chromis that is getting beat up for some reason (small pink wound between dorsal and tail).

The only problem is the fish have to eat the medication for proper treatment... and the goby has stopped eating.

Will this medication help?

Are you feeding the same food as they were at your LFS? Does the goby have anything to hide in or under? QTing is always a good idea but not I sea when animals that live and thrive in something that isn't available, ie sand

I have pvc tubes and elbows that he hides in. I tried spirula, nori, frozen brine, cyclopees, fish caviar and home made fish foods. He just doesn't eat, is lethargic and has cloudy eyes. I don't want to put him in the DT in fears of contaminating other fish. So I guess he has to stay in the QT... right?

Sounds strange, but the cloudy eyes sounds like ammonia poisoning/burn...I had pictus cats with the same symptoms, I neglected Dechlor in my freshwater tank after a big water change...fixed the ammonia, they came around

Maybe the lfs just got a bad batch of fish, it's prob stress from the shipment.
Might, the tang I got was also a little wheezy coming in and is doing great now.

I use ro/di so no chlorine (if that's what dechlor is for). I seeded the media on LR and there's no ammonia...

GF put the meds in and she has to do a 20% change in 7 days. I told her to watch the water level closely during the week for medication dosing (no ato on the QT).

Well after two days of treatment, nothing seems to be improving for the little fellow. Actually they've gotten worse. So I asked the gf to put him in a small container and put him in the freezer. Poor little guy.

Well now I have to find a new goby when I get some R&R.

Should I add sand to the QT tank when I buy the next goby? Heard it wasn't great when you needed to medicate.

Actually during treatment fish tend to get worse before they get better you just have to hold it out, unless it completely dies.
