Some time has passed since the last poll and I wanted to see what people are doing now. For the record, besides protein skimming and keeping the bioload normal, there is nothing I think more important than regular water changes. I know there are some experts that don't agree with this and my practical knowledge begs to differ with their expertise.

In the past 3 months I've been trying to do it every two weeks (10% each time). Unfortunately, this past month, I haven't been doing so well.

I do a 32 brute every week but sometimes miss a week so even though I voted 1X a week it's probably averaging 1.5 weeks. As my frag tanks grow, the percentage is getting less and maybe I'll go pick up a 44 gallon brute to keep the percentage better. Right now it's on 245 gallons but in the next month it will be 355 gallons.

FW tanks get 100% every week.

C02 driven 120g planted gets 50% every week.

Salt tank will get 30g water change every 2 weeks.
Resins on tank are changed every 3 weeks.
Sponge filter/bubble traps rinsed weekly.
Rock washed with power head to blow of detritus weekly.

in light of this thread I tested my water, which has NEVER been changed since the day I filled the tank (a few months ago)

ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 0ish
pH 8.0 - 8.1
alk 3 meq/L (no idea what that means or if its low or high or normal)

never did a water change either just about 5 gallons every 2 days for top off(ro/di) tank full of coral and some fish only problems i have or use to have was phosphates

I generally change mine when they stick to the wall.

OOPS .....wrong thread .....................nevermind.........:D
