water change question

I'm in the process of starting my first saltwater tank and I was wondering about water changes. When I was doing freshwater tanks I would use the old water to water houseplants and some of the plants in the garden.
I'm assuming that I can't do the same with the old saltwater from water changes. Do y'all just dump the old water down the drain? or down the gutter? whats the best thing to do with the old water?

Correct. Cannot use to water plants. Even if you dumped on your lawn, you would eventually kill the grass. You could use to probably kill weeds though. Otherwise, dump it in the toilet.

If you are really crazed to save water, you could pour it into the back of a toilet, but I'd flush it soon so as to not overly corrode the parts there.
