Water Change Schedule

The more frequently the better, many of those with automated water change systems make daily water changes. At a minimum I would go once every other week.

Something like 10% every week for the first 6months-year, then backing off to every other week if things are cool.

Kinda depends what your changing water for though. For me it sets the schedule of my maintenance routine and it helps me to not slack. Every change I blow off the rocks and vacuum the sand; I alternate changes to clean out the sump, clean the pumps and powerheads, decrud the skimmer, calibrate heaters, tune up reactors. So I'm doing a lot more than just swapping water.

I don't think small daily water swaps do much for nutrient reduction, but they are a great way to keep trace elements steady. I find kalk and regular larger changes sufficient for that.

20% every week religiously. It helps me keep a routine maintenance schedule. Blowing off the rocks, vacuum the sand, clean the skimmer, etc, etc.

I have a 240 gallon.. Around 50 gallons a month. Never have issues with parameters... Quite nice. I also have an attached evaporation tup so I never have to top off

20% every 2 weeks. I have done this since the beginning, use the nitrate build up in your system to determine the frequency and amount. The water change is not about new water it's about getting rid of more nitrate than you make between WC's.

A little under 10% every Saturday. (5 gallons for my 56g system). I also use this time to blow off my rocks and then clean out anything floating. It's probably more than I have to, but I like to keep on top of it.
