Water change Wednesday

Did a 50g last night. Having problems keeping my PH up since I added the CA reactor. I was around 8.1ish. Now my PH is hovering around 7.7-7.8. Hoping a 15-20% change will help. Probably Not.

If possible open a window in your sump room and draw in some fresh air.

Had house windows open almost all last week when the temp was nice. Air is on as of this am due to impending heat wave. When i go home for lunch i will turn off the reactor and start making up another batch of water i think. Get it going and change it out Saturday morning. That will give a ~90g change of a 335g ish system in 4 days.

Don't chase PH, it will quickly land you in trouble. You're on the low side but within acceptable range. Are you having any issues? You can try to bring PH up by adding an outside fresh air line to your skimmer air intake. What is the reactor PH? Are you dumping lot's of CO2 into the reactor at once and maintaining reactor PH with your controller? If so, lower your bubble rate until the controller hardly ever shuts it off.

Reacotr PH is 6.7 to 6.8. My meter hoers around between the two. My bubble counter never shuts off, but the CO2 add rate is slow and steady. Im thinking I more need to hook this up to my manifold that way I can keep the water supply in the reactor longer rather than have the maxijet pumping it through constant. As it is now, it is a constant stream in/out.

Im thinking I need more to subscribe to the KISS theory here rather than chase a few small things.

Did a 225 gallon water change last night and completely disassembled and reassembled my protein skimmer, cleaned it really well. Skimmer took about 3 hours to work on!

I did a 3 gallon water change at lunch today... "225 gallons" is the size of my current dream system lol.

My total water volume it about 67 gallons. I do 3g's mid week and 3g's on Sunday morning. What do you guys think the maximum volume of water I could change twice a week? This is really just something I was wondering about this afternoon.

Just finished my 3rd 45-50g water change since Wednesday. Shut down my CA reactor and trying to get my high alkanlinity/lower PH in check. Will test with my Red Sea kits later tonight after it circulates around for a bit.

Took all the rock out of my sump ( about 300 lbs. ) and sucked all the detritus out. While doing that I also did a 90 gallon water change.

I also found an Eibli angel that I had put in my tank a few months back and never saw again so I thought was dead but lo and behold after draining the sump of all but about an inch of water there he was. He mustve been living off of pods this whole time..lolz

So you put him in your tank and he ended up in the sump? Must have been a fun ride for him.

No,this guy was suspected of eating my zoas so I tossed him into the sump. Come to find out it's my foxface thats munching them,at least I'm pretty sure it is. I ended up putting the Eilbi in the mantis tank for now and if he is a zoas eating culprit I'll grab him and put him back in the sump. lolz

I do have a diamond goby that took the ride though. He went down the drain,up and over the filter sock, over my baffles and thru the fuge area that has 300 lbs of LR in it and over my other baffles to end up in the return pump section. I couldnt believe he made it all the way thru the sump. Hes been pretty content in the DT since I tossed him back in now though.
