if you could save me a bucket or two. I am setting up my 210. im located in woodridge off hobson and 53

are just in need af alot of water or you really wanting dirty water?
if you just need water my truck has a 210 gallon tank in the back :-)

I'm confused, why would you do this? The water isn't what contains any of the beneficial bacteria, it's your rock and sand. I know you bought dry rock to start your setup, so if you're starting with a perfectly clean slate I don't know why you would expose yourself to possible pests or diseases from other peoples tanks. You're starting fresh, use fresh SW....

You're going to get a NASTY cycle anyway when using 200 pounds of dead rock, old water won't help lessen that time, atleast not anything of significance....

Just MHO.....

thanks for the info I just thought it may help to use water from established tanks thats all.

It wont help with your cycle but it will help save money. I'm doing a 30 gallon change tomarrow if you still want some.

I do not know if I would use it for your setup but possibly to cure your rock would be ok. BATC makes a good point about pests though.. I don't know about others but when I do a water change I typically try to get out unwanteds like flatworms (the regular non AEFW but still a pest none teh less), asterinas, and hydroids. I see both sides... and it would save you like $40 in salt or more.

I'm doing a 20 gallon change on Sunday. Bring buckets and it's yours. I'm in Downers Grove, let me know.

I agree w/badazztealcobra +1.
+2, I can't see doing this for economic reasons, it's a 210, that is not a budget project to start with. I would just plan on a big water bill to fill that bad lad with RO/DI and would be buying the most efficient RO/DI I could afford. Good luck!

was never meant to be on a budget. Just will take all week to fill this tank with my 75 gpd rodi. it doesnt matter I still have some small bits of plumbing to finish.

I would have to agree on the idea of, who knows what your gonna get pest and algae wise. If you need more RO/DI water I can run mine and get you some extra. You aren't that far from me. With a nice setup like that start fresh!!!
