Hi Guys,
MY 10gallon FOWLR tank is now 6 months old. It has always had much green algae growing all over it, including the live rocks, and I needed to clean the sides every few days. 2 weeks, ago, the algae started to clear on its own and the rocks started to bleach white. Both my CBS Shrimp and my Sandstar died. I found out that the PH somehow dropped to 7.0 for reasons I cannot ascertain. Was the PH drop responsible? What could have triggered the drop?
(All other params (Nitrate, nitrite, Salinity, ammonia) are fine)
I have since pushed it up to 8.3 and introduced a junvenile sailfin tang. It starved itself to death for it refused to consume any pellet food or seaweed offered. In the mean time, both my feather dusters lost their crowns and died as well. Now, I only one one clarkii clownfish, one pink dottyback, and one yellowstriped cardinal, and one tough featherduster in the tank. This featherduster has a withering crown and looks like it is trying to get out of its tube.
Can anyone explain to me the reasons for this? Is this the problem with water hardness or some other more unusual issues which I am oblivious to. It seems that there is something wrong with the water chemistry in my tank now and only those tough fishes can last it out.
