Water clarity

Return pump is a quiet one that if wide open and accounting for head pressure can do 650 gph but I have it closed down a lot because wide open my drain surges like a mofo also have my reactor tee'd off the return

Did you use good cured rock? Do u over feed?

None of this makes any sense given your feedback and info is correct. With all that flow, socks, and skimming, you should not be having an issue that has prolonged like this.

Yes cured rock from puppy center and most of the rock came from my previous tank and is several years old other than the clarity issue my corals are going like wildfire since the lighting upgrade several of my ZOA frags have doubled their polyps

I know it doesn't make any sense I have nearly doubled my investment in reefing trying to solve this and its getting really frustrating I know the water changes are pointless chemically buy in theory a 25 % water change should remove 25% of the detrius

My last thought is, it can't be just detritus, or all that flow and turnover, and the sock, given it is 200 micron, would clear up your water no problem.

I would be think so to ... Going to open up return wide open and shut off reactor and let it flow and surge and whatever it needs to do think I should add water clarifier (clarity) and see if that helps?

Hell no! Don't ever add crap like that to your reef!!!

Crank up all the flow to the point where it won't harm your corals (doesn't mean them closing up for a bit), and blow the rocks out like crazy. First replace the sock. And then let her to for a while at full bore and turnover. If that doesn't help, detritus is not your issue.

Well that is good. Just let it keep working it and keep the flow and turnover up. It will make progress but it's gonna take a little time. If it's detritus, you must has had some serious buildup in there. But it's fixable, and not too much to stress about. Again, stop wasting your salt and water with changes, make sure you keep up on your filter sock changing, let the skimmer keep rocking, and just ride it out. Things should hangs for the better and you should continue to see improvement. It's just gonna take time to catch up.

And it's a good idea to keep at least a small amount of new saltwater on hand for when you empty the skimmer or collection container. As it removes salt water from you system, it's a good idea to put the same amount of liquid/water that the skimmer pulls, straight back into your system as to keep your salinity stable, and not drop through any ATO you may be using.

I keep 15 gallons on mix all the time and 50 rodi I have an ATO but have to build the float mounts and then run the pipe from basement a to is controlled from my reef angel
