Water flow question

What exactly do people mean by moderate, medium, high, etc. water flow? Does that translate to a gph flow, and if so, what is the related gph?

Slam308,

Thank you for your post. The classifications for water flow are general, and do not necessarily correspond to a specific Gallons-Per-Hour rating. Low water flow means that the coral should be kept in a relatively calm area of the tank, away from any direct flow. Medium or Moderate means the coral can be kept in an area where water is flowing, but not necessarily directly at the coral. It can also mean a powerhead or other water pump of a lower flow rate may be aimed at or near the coral. High flow rate will generally mean that a large amount of flow should be aimed at or near the coral. We hope this helps you in determining the correct coral placement and water movement for your aquarium.
