Water flow with Koralias

I just setup my 40 breeder and needed some advice on how to setup my water flow. I have 3 Koralia 3s and 2 Koralia 1s. The problem is no matter how I point the K3s it blows sand every where, but I do not feel that I am getting enough flow with the K1s. Any suggestions how to set this up? I also have to returns from a MAG7 that flows from the center of the tank towards each side....I hope that made since.

Thanks

sorry for not making myself clear..... I only put the K1s in because I could not use the 3 without blowing sand everywhere. The only ones currently in the the is the 2xK1s. This does not seem like enough flow. What I am looking for is a way to arrange any combo to get good water circulation.

I'd try one 3 and leave one 1 in there. Make sure the pumps are more towards the junction of the middle and upper third of the tank, this way you have the least chance of disturbing your sandbed. Try pointing the 3 down the length of the tank so it doesn't reflect off the front glass immediately.

This is complicated to answer. Enough flow for what? What corals are you keeping or would like to keep? I would also post a pic of the rock work. What kind of sand do you have? I found out the hard way that fine sand (like the one sold from marcorocks) is a PITA if you are keeping SPS and need high flow.

IMO 2 k3 sounds appropriate for most 40g setups. Maybe it's a matter of replacing the sand for a heavier/thicker one, which should not be to hard in a tank that size.

Is the sand new or established?Just went thru this running 2/1050 korallias and and a 550 in my 42 hex.Ended up positioning them lower in the tank and aiming at the surface.Once the sand bed developed a biofilm have had no more problems with sand storms. The more the tank is stocked you will be looking for more flow.I thought it was overkill in my tank as well until it started to mature.

I had over 70X turn over in my 40B. Try pointing the K3's up more and maybe remove a K1 if you need to.
