Water level in 9010 (in tank use)

My Tunze 9010 is set up inside the tank. It has not been skimming, or should say, it has not been collecting inside the cup. My guess is that the water level is too high. I do have it above the blue water line indicated on the skimmer. I have it just about 1/4 inch under the little "nozzle".

Is it too high?

The reason I have it this deep in the water is that the cup touches my PC light fixture.

Too high. My water level sits about 1/4 inch below the water line and it works great. I'd suggest you figure somthing out to fix the height.

I have my water level just over the blue line and it runs fine. I have runn it from just under to almost 3/4 of an inch above with not much difference.

I see. I do think though that my water level is too high. I will try to figure something out, but for now, it looks like I won't be able to, unless I get a canopy for the lights, which I won't do until I get the new 125g tank.

Thanks.

Try the 9005 cup on it. Its a few inches shorter. My 9010 with the 9005 cup works great. I find that I can REALLY dial in the skimate with the smaller cup. It can skim very wet or nasty/dry. 2.5 to 3 turns out with the blue screw, seems to be good with the small cup. Forget about 4/5+ turns out...........the cup will fill in 1 day! Even at 3 turns out, if I forget to dump the cup after a few days........the foam head will make its way out the "vent" slots on the cup lid.
The 9005 cup is about $50. and you can use the same lid as the 9010 cup.
Maybe this will help your height/clearance issues.

Later.............Herbie
