Hey,

i have a 55 gallon with 20 long sump on the bottom, MAG 5 pushing on the return and CPR overflow. Things are good but sometimes i notice water level raised in the main tank. It doesnt overflow onto my livingroom but it touching the plastic thingie that goes around my tank on top of it. It just scares me

Is it normal for level to go up in the main tank?

Thanks...

It sounds like your CPR overflow might be losing a little siphon every so often. What your seeing with the tank water level rising is the overflow slows down and then when the water level gets high enough it speeds back up because of increased flow. You might want to check into a aqualifter pump to keep the CPR overflow tube free of trapped air.

thanks Daddeo, i do have a aqualifter runnin 24/7 on this thing. What else might it be? Should i not worry?

I have a syphon overflow on my tank and if to much air gets into one of the syphon tubes, the amount of water leaving the tank slows down compared to the water returning. Also, I have two foam pre-filters and if they get to much gunk built up, it slows the drainage and causes the level to rise also. Not sure what type of set up you have, but if it's similar, these could be causes.
