water movement

I have a 125 mixed reef. I am trying to decide wether to use a seaswirl or a wavemaker.

Wave maker.
would need to buy 2 new power heads and more wires.
might give me a little more movement, no pluming required

Seaswirl
Not sure where I want to place it. Thinking in center of tank since it has 2 nozzels coming off it and would distribute movement more evenly than if place at one end of tank.
Some plumbing involved but could add it in line with my chiller and that would spread cooler water faster.

Leaning towards seaswirl, any thoughts would be great.

I would add two vortech mp40 pumps.

A seaswirl will give different flow patterns but it will still be the same amount of flow at all times. They perform different tasks.

I like a "wavemaker" better. Controllable pumps like vortechs really supply an incredible amount of flow.

If you don't go with a variable speed pump I would still add a few propeller pumps for flow and skip the wavemaker and seaswirl devices all together.

Well, i got a Sea Swirl with 2 Koralia's 4 in my 125 in the middle and it get to both corners great. I replaced the noozle which makes it go further distance.

I also use both. (2) 1" seaswirls on a closed loop and (2) Koralia 6's with the wavemaker in the corners that ramp up and down.

thanks for input. I am going to try the SS in the middle of the tank (has a Y) and try to use two small powerheads down lower to keep water movement through out tank. I will let you know how it goes.

Tkeracer I would love to add some vortec's in future, have to finish paying for wifes masters and duaghters bachelors firts lol. After they are done (one of these years) I would like to set up a larger tank and go all out.

hooked up SS and left the powerheads in there also. Going to take out the small one (nano size) since it is almost directly behind SS. Thank you everyone for the input.
