Water Parameter

Hi again all

My 12 DX is only on day three of the cycle, but I want to make sure this is normal water parameters..

SG - 1.023
Temp - 79.9
LR - 13 Lbs
LS - 20 Lbs
pH - 7.8
Ammonia - Well over 8.0 ppm
Nitrite - 0.25 ppm
Nitrate - 0 ppm

In the rear chamber I have ChemiPure, Purigen in #1 , LR Rubble, Temp probe in #2, and Heater and MJ 900 in #3.

Don't need these ChemiPure, Purigen in #1

Let the cycle do its job.

That article discusses water parameters in general. The SG seems a little low to me. I'd consider doing some water changes, but other than that, seems reasonable.

IMO you should

1. Raise the SG to 1.025
2. Lower the temp (if possible) to 78.
3. After the cycle is over the pH should ideally be 8.2-8.4, but as long as it's around 8 you should be ok.

during cycle all you need to do is water changes to export some of the excess ammonia, and to keep SG and temperature stable. Do not worry about anything else. pH will be off, because cycling is an acidic process, when cycle completes (amm=trite=ZERO) perform 50-75% water change to export nitrates produced by the cycle. You're doing fine. Just be patient
