Water pump for water

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any good reccomendation for a good water pump that I could use just to pump water from my trash can into my sump- which is about 3-4 feet up the trashcan then 3-4 feet down and to the side into the next room. I don't want something too powerful but obviously not something that i'll be sitting there for 20 or more minuites while it fills 30g into my system. any ideas- cheaper= better and it doesn't need to be top notch quality since it won't be running very often!

i actually use a powerhead too, pretty much all of them will be strond enough to do it. I actually use a micro-jet for my ATO which goes about the same distance as you need to go with no problems...

check out the selling forum there's always someone selling used pumps I bought a mag pump on there to mix the salt and for water changes

For that short of a distance, a Maxijet will probably work, and would be one of your cheapest options. I used a Mag 5, but I was pushing water over a distance of about 20 feet. Eheims also make very good pumps. I'd probably try using a Maxijet first. Even if it doesn't work as well as you'd like, they're relatively cheap, and I know I always like to have one or two spare Maxijets around for everything from moving to mixing water.

Ya the mj1200 will get the job done just fine. I use one to mix my salt and for water changes. It pumps the water relatively slowly from my garage down the hall about 50' and then up vertically about 5' into the DT. These are good powerheads for the buck.

do you think the maxi jet 1200 can circulate 30g of water well?

It should definitely be able to mix 30g of water, but if it isn't doing the job quickly or well enough for your tests, you can always get one of those Maxijet mods, which increase the flow almost 10-fold. I used a modded MJ1200 in my 44g water bin, and it worked great.
