water removal

Ah now I get it. You used one of those wheeled garbage cans.. Bad idea. (obviously now) Just use a regular Brute can.

"I use two brutes and I can't budge them if they have over 10g in them. "

You need to hit the Gym man :)

I would try to lift the carpet enough to get something under it so air can get in. I would also use a wet vac to suck up the water.

If you are only 10 how could you have been keeping Freshwater fish for 20 years?

Maybe he just has the body of a 10 year old. J/K but he is right once some water is in a brute it is never going to tip.

if he is only 10 and tipped over 200 lbs of water then he definetly does not need to hit the gym:lol:

The room now smells soooo bad! The water under the tank is the problem. Its 90 gal of water about 100 lbs of live rock, all on an oak cabnet....moving it is not an option. had to get a 35 gal garbage can..no wheels, and a fan. (checking the can to be sure it is level.) I Did do the water change with the water pump and hose. So much better than the bucket system.
Still...if anyone is interrested in a good starter tank i have a nice enough system i would sell really cheep! maybe trade for new carpet....90 gal, oak, live rock, maroon clowns, lawnmower blenny, blue devil, lots of turbo snails and various crabs, slight water damage inside cabnet--500.00

I tried one of those wheeled trash cans, too. Luckily it was outside, collecting the reject water from my RO/DI system. I thought I'd be able to wheel it around the yard, dumping some water at the base of each tree. Instead it did the same thing yours did while I wasn't looking.

I hope the smell doesn't really drive you to sell the tank.

Get a shop vac,in this hobby it is a life saver.

Yup, mine's got years of saltwater in it haha.

Hate to tell you this, but your only option now is to drain that tank and move it to another room. The carpet pad will be completely saturated under the stand and will mold quickly. The mold can get really bad and grow up the wall or stand. The pad won't dry out for weeks if it's saturated.

Just call the friends that helped move tank in and get after it.

My son is here to save the day. The smell is about bearable now. We plan to drain and move the tank this weekend. Pull all the carpet up and polish the concrete. A nice area rug will be put down. I love my tank, I sit in front of it with my cat. It is mostly a very peaceful hobby. My three clowns are beginning to show out a bit. Once i am sure who is the third wheel, i will move him out. The pairing has changed in the last month. Now the girl has decided to like the other one. None of them are hosting the aninomee....i know...time, give it time.
